“Total Eclipse is a great amazing drummer but also I really love his writing. It's kind of got this like Smooth Jazz vibe to this album, especially the song Totally Eclipse. My favorite part about this album is the two ballads on it which are Sim and N um Tales, which are all written by Herto Pascal, and they're beautiful.”
Total Eclipse
Released in 1974, this album captures the essence of jazz fusion with an intricate blend of rhythms, textures, and improvisational flair. Billy Cobham, a master drummer, employs a formidable array of percussion instruments, creating a rich sonic tapestry that ranges from frenetic to contemplative. The album features a lineup of talented musicians, including bassist John Patitucci and keyboardist Jan Hammer, whose contributions elevate the compositions through their nuanced interplay.
