Sketches of Spain
Miles Davis ·1960
"Cool, I got 'Sketches of Spain.' It's a Miles Davis record. It's the follow-up to 'Kind of Blue,' came out in I think 1960. It's got this kind of dramatic, brooding Spanish sound, which was new for him."

A Moon Shaped Pool
Radiohead ·2016
"There's one song on it called 'Present Tense.' It's just this amazing chord progressions in there that switch and do all these crazy things, and it just trips me out. I love that song I love this record. Can't wait to get to know it more."

Marquee Moon
Television ·1977
"They were kind of in that whole CBGB scene, post-punk thing and one of the first bands to really have not shreddy guitars, but they were lead guitars that were hooks and it kind of made sense to me where The Strokes came from because I always thought The Strokes guitar work was so interesting then you listen to 'Marquee Moon' and you're like, oh I get it now."

Lawrence of Arabia
Maurice Jarre ·1989
"this is really dope because this is 'Lawrence of Arabia' but in French. I have an American pressing of it, of my own, but the French one is pretty rare to get. I guarantee this will be the most played album we're getting."

Sprained Ankle
Julien Baker ·2015
"She's one of my favorite artists to come out in the last few years. 19 or 20 years old, and it's kind of somewhere in between Elliott Smith and David Bazan. And her guitar work is cool, it reminds me of Explosion in the Sky, but it's just her and a guitar, just very mature and talks about addiction and heartbreak in a way that feels like she's probably 40."

To Pimp a Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar ·2015
"Last year, a Kendrick Lamar record, 'To Pimp a Butterfly.' The way that it blends jazz and funk and slam poetry and West Coast hip-hop, it's pretty remarkable and seamless, and it tells this story from beginning to end of the trajectory of his career and it kind of culminates in this moment at the end of it."

Keep It Like a Secret
Built to Spill ·1999
"There's a song called 'Else' and they do this really cool bendy guitar thing that I think every indie band does these days. I think we do that in moments and you kind of can trace it back to this band."

Live at Reading
Nirvana ·2009
"You can trace the trajectory of my life back to this band for sure and it's a super-iconic show, it's the one where he was wheeled out in the hospital gown and acted like he passed out or died."
