The Raven

The Stranglers
Rock 1979

"The Raven" is a narrative poem by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language and supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a distraught lover who is paid a visit by a mysterious raven that repeatedly speaks a single word: "nevermore".

“This is what heroin sounds like, I think, and they admitted that they, as a band, they just got on heroin. This record is amazing. Again, insane bass tone. This was probably the all-time killer distorted bass guitar tone with this guy J.J. Burnel.”
