Sunburst Finish

Be Bop Deluxe
Rock 1976

Sunburst is a style of finishing for musical instruments such as electric and acoustic guitars and electric basses. At the center of a sunburst-finished surface is an area of lighter color that darkens gradually towards the edges before hitting a dark rim. Among the best known examples of a sunburst finish are the Gibson Les Paul guitars and the Fender Stratocaster.

“This is an album called 'Sunburst Finish' by a band called Be-Bop Deluxe. It was actually one man called Bill Nelson who was the most amazing guitar player. I went to see this band, some gig in London, Drury Lane, I think it was, and it was the first band I'd ever been to without ever hearing a single song, I loved every song that they did throughout the whole night, most amazing, phenomenal player.”
